Myths and Reality Checks:

  • University research is irrelevant to people's everyday lives

  • Technology based courses are cost effective, can be used by everyone and are more cost-effective that traditional teaching methods

  • At $16,000 for a degree, education is affordable and within everyone's reach

  • Adult upgrading students are either too lazy or too stupid to be successful

  • Faculty members and students have lighter workloads than people in the 'real world.'

  • Tenure guarantees a cushy job for life
